Pebble shipped more than 1 million smartwatches as confirmed by the company through an exclusive interview with CEO Eric Migicovsky who revealed that the company's one millionth Pebble was shipped on Dec. 31, 2014.
This doubles the company's 400, 000 smartwatches sales in March 2014, according to The Verge.
The report noted that the price cuts and feature upgrades boosted the demand of the watches. Last June of 2014 pebble upgraded their smartwatch into fitness tracking feature, from a smartwatch into pedometer, and they also lowered their prices to $99 for the standard watches and $199 for Pebble Steel, a $50 and $30 drop, respectively.
Migicovsky promised that Pebble will carry its momentum through 2015and that the company will continue on engineering new products and software. He added that they have found a new framework to use as an interaction model on the watch and he also boasted that the new platform is unlikely to what users have currently and it is not like the features on current smartphones.
However, 2015 is still tough a year for Pebble. Apple's Watch this April, Google's iteration on its Android Wear Platform and other competitor's aggressive projects is a challenge not only for Pebble but for businesses of its like, according to CNBC.
The company needs all the help from other developers to compete against Apple and Google. Pebble has been successful in garnering support from third party developers which doubles productivity since September.
Migicovsky will not give further details on company's plans and he tells us to wait until later this year for what the company has on its sleeves.
