The first thing that impresses you with Lego's new S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier is its size. It is big, really big for a Lego toy. But it looks fantastic.
The Lego version of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier made hugely popular by the Avenger movies is three feet long, 17 inches wide and almost a foot tall. You'll build this cool toy from 2,996 Lego pieces, the most number ever for a Lego set.
The Helicarrier isn't only a stack of colorful but static Lego bricks. It's also got moving parts. A hand-crank lets you turn the four engines. Better yet, you can also use Lego Power Functions sets 88000, 8883 and 8870 to add lights and spinning rotors to the Helicarrier. These three sets are sold separately, however.
And this Helicarrier has a crew of minifigure superheroes: Nick Fury, Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye and Agent Maria Hill in her Lego minifig debut. There are also eight other microfigs of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, according to CNET.
Lego unveiled this marvelous monster recently and said it'll go on sale in March only at Lego stores for US$349 a set. Just in time for your Helicarrier to greet the latest Avengers movie, Avengers: Age of Ultron that opens in theaters on May 1.
According to Kotaku, this huge chunk of cash features Nick Fury, Captain America (with shield), Black Widow (with gun), Hawkeye (with bow), Maria Hill, 12 microfig S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and a S.H.I.E.L.D. eagle stand to display them on.
There are three microscale Quinjets, three fighter jets, two forklift trucks, a gasoline truck, two runways and four road blocks.
The armored exterior of the Helicarrier has translucent elements; a detailed interior and a detailed runway
There is a plaque with facts about the Helicarrier and a display stand for this heroic tech toy.
