"Arrow" season 5 has just been confirmed, and executive producer Marc Guggenheim recently hinted on what fans can expect from the upcoming installment.

While speaking with TV Line, Guggenheim confirmed that "Arrow" season 5 will continue to feature a series of flashbacks. Unfortunately, not all viewers of the show like these scenes that typically revolve around Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell).

"Part of the appeal of the flashbacks - certainly in the first two years, but I think the first three years - is seeing what a big difference it is between Oliver Queen in the present day and Oliver Queen five years ago. The problem is that we are telling a five-year story in the flashbacks of Oliver becoming the guy you met in the pilot. So the deeper you get into the flashbacks, the closer he becomes to being that guy, and thus, you lose that element of flashbacks that was so interesting, which is how different he was... That's something we have struggled with this year," he said.

Meanwhile, "Arrow" executive producer Wendy Mericle said that "Arrow" season 5 will still feature a series of flashbacks, but these stories will have an end point. After all, it's already been five years so Oliver's entire journey before he became the Arrow will finally be completed next season.

"We know what we're going to working up to. The season will be easier to break because we have an endpoint, and we work backwards from there," she said.

When asked to specifically spill some storylines from season 5, Mericle said, "I don't want to tip too much, but it's a very good possibility that we'll finally find out how Oliver got that Bratva tattoo and how he learned to speak Russian."

In other news, the upcoming episode of "Arrow" season 4 will see Team Arrow attending Laurel Lance's (Katie Cassidy) funeral.

The emotional episode is also expected to see Diggle (David Ramsey) blaming himself for what happened to Laurel. As a result, Diggle will try to go on missions by himself and he will also attempt to kill some people in "Canary Cry."

"Arrow" season 4 airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
