Rumors has it that the Cupertino-based tech giant Apple is planning to enter in the automobile industry, and go against the likes of Google and Tesla.
According to the rumors, an Apple car is currently in development at Apple's secret lab. The rumor sparked when a German newspaper, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung or FAZ, claims that the giant technology company is operating and developing an Apple vehicle at its secret laboratory in Berlin.
It is said that if Apple would make a car, there is no doubt that the perfect place would be Germany, as the country is home of various popular and high quality automobile brands, such as BMW, Mercedes and Porsche.
On the other hand, the same report also points out the possibility that Magna, a global automotive manufacturer and supplier, has been contracted by Apple. According to reports, Magna CEO Don Walker released a statement in 2015 pitching that their company is the best one that Apple should choose if Apple wants to develop its own brand of vehicle.
FAZ also claims that Apple hired a team of 15 to 20 individuals to work on the engineering aspect of the said Apple vehicle, Apple Insider reported. Furthermore, based on various speculations, the Apple car will probably be a small electric vehicle, and that it would most likely be in the market after 2 to 3 years.
In relation to the frequently asked question on whether the Apple car is going to have a self-driving technology like Google's vehicle, rumors has it that Apple may not incorporate the said technology to its vehicle; however, this does not mean that Apple is not considering the technology that Google used.
Nevertheless, these are all mere speculations, and even if rumors are spreading like a wildfire, neither Apple nor its CEO, Tim Cook, has not yet officially confirmed that the company is indeed developing an Apple car.
Apple geeks and fanatics should just wait in the coming weeks or months as someone may leak factual details in relation to the said rumor.
