Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress episode 2 has been officially aired on Fuji TV on Thursday exactly a week after its original scheduled airing was postponed to give way for the station's coverage of earthquake in Japan at that time.

Episode 2 Recap:

After he succeeded in preventing the virus from turning him into a Kabane, Ikona and his friend headed to the armored steam train, hoping to survive the Kabane onslaught in Aragane station. Meanwhile, Ayami and the survivors couldn't get to the station as they found themselves surrounded by a horde of Kobane. But thanks to Mumei, who volunteered herself as a decoy, the people of Aragane station managed to get on board the Kotetsoju safely.

Despite opposition from Ayami's royal guard due to suspicion that he might be a carrier of the virus, Ikoma was still able to get into the train, but not without the help of Mumei. As Ikoma tried to fend off zombies from sneaking in, people inside the train discovered that Ikoma's heart is glowing and encased with an iron sheet just like that of Kabane.

Out of fear that Ikoma might actually infect everybody on board, Kuruso unhesitantly shot down Ikoma and subsequently left him for dead. Unfortunately, as the train about to depart the zombie-infested station, the crew met some technical problem that would require one of them to sacrifice his life just to manually release the drawbridge.

Ikoma re-entered the scene, and despite the rude treatment he got from the bunshi, he chose to help them by freeing the drawbridge. Broken to the point that he no longer had the intention to save himself, Mumei once again came to the rescue and get Ikoma onboard. There, she explained that like Ikoma she isn't a Kabane or a human. She's a kabaneri, a creature in between a kabane and human.

Episode 3 Preview:

Ikoma, Mumei and the survivors of Aragane station managed to escape the Kabanes, but are facing problems such as the scarcity of food supplies and the uncertainty that awaits in the journey. Moreover, Ayami expresses her feeling of distrust on the presence of Kabaneri in their train, asking the question if they are allies or enemies. The trailer also shows Mumei giving Ikoma a beat down, although she's just probably training Ikoma to become a better Kabaneri warrior.
