Delayed by a week, the second episode of Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress is still a must-watch flick, regardless of the fact raw version of such episode had already been leaked online a week ago. Yes, piracy is all part of the day-to-day challenge in the anime industry, but Amazon Prime, who owns the exclusive right to stream the anime series online, made sure that Thursday's premier provides a different level of excitement for its viewers.

Episode 2 - Endless Night Synopsis:

For those who already watched the raw version of this episode, it's probably better for you guys to skip this part or you'll just find it boring. Again, episode 2 picked where the first part of the story left off. Ikoma, our bad-ass main character, wakes up from a dreadful nightmare only to find that his station (Aragane) is now being overrun by vicious zombie-liked creature called Kabanes.

Mumei, a mysterious kid who just chopped off the head of a Kabane three times her size, is back for more vicious scenes. Surrounded by dozens of zombies, the people of Aragane station are beginning to give up on their hope of escaping from the Kabane onslaught alive until Mumei comes to their rescue. Mumei volunteers to be the decoy in order for the survivors to rush towards the Kotetsujo armored steam train. The following sequence may probably be the most epic fight scene so far this spring with Mumei slaying zombies left and right

Meanwhile, Ikoma manages to get onboard the train (thanks to Mumei) despite opposition from Ayami's royal guard. Little did he know that he's already manifesting signs of being infected with Kabane virus by showing incredible resistance to heat and then bearing a glowing heart encased with iron.

With Ikoma becoming a threat to their safety in the eyes of everybody, Kuruso unhesitantly shoots the young steam smith and leaves him for dead. But despite getting a rude treatment from his peers, Ikoma still decides to give them a hand when the train got stuck at the gate. Ikoma bravely fought zombies along the tracks with his gun, enduring bite after bite. He then lowered the lever to release the drawbridge, finally allowing the train to depart Aragane station.

When it appears that Ikoma will be left off, Mumei arrives to get him onboard this time against his will and the orders of the Bushi. Mumei then explained to them that Ikoma isn't alone because she's also a Kabaneri, being that exists between human and kabane.

3 reasons why we should re-watch episode 2 of Kabaneri of Iron Fortress:

-Amazon Prime will reportedly be including some of the cut scene featuring Mumei while fighting zombie at the Aragane station. The raw version left off all the bloody details of the scenes to pass censorship. However, Amazon Prime plans to include all 110 second of the most brutal zombie-slaying scenes in anime courtesy of Mumei.

-The upcoming version of episode 2 ensured better subtitles. Due to the hype surrounding the anime series, anime fans had to content with crappy funsub that prompts several cringe-worthy moments in the episode.

-Trailer of episode 3 will be shown in the end. We got none last Thursday, this time I am pretty sure we get juicy preview of the next episode.

Episode 2 of Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress was supposed to be aired last April 14 but was delayed for a week due to Fuji TV's coverage of earthquakes in Japan. Fuji TV will be airing the episode on its Noitamina programming block Thursday at 24:55 time slot (12:55 a.m Friday in Japan / around 2:30 p.m Thursday in US Eastern Time). All of the episodes will be streamed online in High Definition on Amazon Prime, while low quality version is available on Animania.
