After the months of speculation, it is now confirmed that Angelina Jolie will reprise her wickedly enchanting role of Maleficent very soon in the sequel of 2014's hit fantasy film of the same name.
Disney has made the formal announcement on April 26, Monday, in which is stated that the Oscar winning actress will once again seen as the villain in a sequel to the fairy tale flick based on the popular story of Sleeping Beauty. The release date of the sequel is not yet set. Linda Woolverton, who penned the script for the first movie, has been roped in to work on the upcoming sequel.
Jolie's involvement in the sequel of "Maleficent" was speculated since June 2015. However, the chances of the same appeared bleak when she reportedly denied to appear in the sequels of both "Salt" and "Wanted."
Disney's announcement surely comes as a welcome surprise among the fans of 40-year-old actress, who had previously declared that she was unsure of donning the black horns and wings once again for the titular villain.
"I don't know. I enjoyed it, 'USA Today quoted the actress as saying in 2015. "I just feel like we did this one thoroughly and I don't think there'd be another."
Earlier, the actress had also repeatedly hinted about moving away from acting to focus more on behind-the-camera kind work. She was last seen on screen in her third directorial venture "By The Sea," in which she starred opposite her husband, Brad Pitt, marking their first collaboration since 2005's "Mr & Mrs Smith."
Meanwhile, Jolie was spotted in London on April 26, Monday, enjoying a meal with Conservative politician William Hague, Daily Mail reported. The actress cut a effortlessly stylish figure as she draped a light grey shawl over her chic dark grey dress to keep her warm on the chilly spring evening.
The actress' outing with the politician comes as no surprise as the pair had reportedly worked together on a mission to end war rape across the world. This happened after the release of her first directorial venture "In the Land of Blood and Honey," a heartwrenching movie that was set during 2011's Bosnian war in which up to 50,000 women were allegedly raped and tortured.
