Apple Inc. unveiled a 12-inch Retina MacBook last week, opening a window for reviews from different publications concerning the changes in the new laptop.
Many reviews reveal that the new MacBook has a design similar to the 2015 MacBook, but it sports an enhanced Skylake processor with better graphics, a faster SSD, a new Rose Gold color variant, and longer battery life. Seemingly, review focus on such improvements as well as pointing out some missing features, including Thunderbolt 3, an increased number of UBS Type-C ports, and a better FaceTime camera.
The Cupertino-based tech giant's claim of 25 percent better graphics functionality and longer battery life are accurate, according to Engadget. The 1.3GHz 512GB laptop features an SSD with Wollman reading speed of 947MB/s and writing speed of 845MB/s, which is an improvement over the 2015 model that has read/write speeds of 738.2MB/s and 451.7MB/s respectively.
On the contrary, the 2016 MacBook may not interest users who disliked its precursor based on a single USB Type-C port, according to Ars Technica. Speed stands out to be the most important reason for those who hesitated purchasing the 2015 model to go for the latest one.
The 12-inch Retina MacBook 2016 is better than its predecessor is, but still involves compromises. Besides the manufacturer failing to fix port availability, the laptop as well has low-res FaceTime camera. For customer who want the Core m5 model, an extremely portable machine, and a laptop that lasts an hour longer on charge, the 2016 MacBook is the best option.
In addition to the 2016 MacBook being about 25 percent faster, the laptop also come in a Rose Gold color variant. The MacBook can look either sort of bronze of beautifully pink.
In essence, users who were worried that the 2015 MacBook was too underpowered, the latest laptop from Apple will only assuage the concerns by 25 or so percent. Apple is already selling the latest MacBook on its website at a starting price of $1299. For those who can place orders today, they should have their device in a week's time, although retail stores worldwide have the laptop in stock for instant purchase.
