“Descendants of the Sun” actor Song Joong-ki may have placed second to fellow Korean actor Park Hae Jin when it comes to being a husband material, but when it comes to current commercial endorsements, the 30-year-old would surely win hands down.
In the same week, he was reported to have endorsed Dior Homme clothes, Chinese beauty brand Proya, Domino’s Pizza and now Baskin Robbins Ice Cream. AllKpop reported that the top ice cream brand released on Thursday the new commercial featuring the “Descendants of the Sun” actor.
Barely less than 24 hours after the commercial was posted on YouTube, the video clip has become viral with almost 90,000 hits. And not surprisingly, no one noticed his female co-star in the commercial who was not even named.
But do the fans care? In fact, in the Comments section of YouTube, while Jennie Mallanao found the advert too sensual for an ice cream commercial, the next comment by nurul haeni reflected the sentiment of many female fans of Song Joong-ki. She wrote, “I just can’t help it to hate the girls near to SJK … (I know is just cf but I don’t like he paired up with other girl) my heart can’t take it.”
Similarly, Siti Zafirah wrote, “I think I just heard my heart broke,” while Crazy Earphones noted, “sjk is a little too close with that girl.” Phoenix 7 added, “I envy that girl so much.”
Other female fans did not mind so much the co-star since their eyes were on the handsome actor whom Tiffany Ava found to be “So cheesy but so adorable.”
S2NadaS2 admitted that she thought advertisements do not work on her, but this one made her “want to buy anything he touches.” However, she chided fellow female fans as she pointed out and asked them, “He can’t even star with a girl in a CF, what will happen to you girls when he gets married?”
Meanwhile, Song Joong-ki is not only endorsing commercial brands which earns him billions of won. He is also into environment campaigns such as modeling some clothes for a fund raising project for the BEE Campaign. The target of the initiative is to save bees that are already in danger of extinction.
