WWE Payback 2016 - In the first PPV event of the new era, reigning WWE World Heavyweight champion Roman Reigns will be putting his title on the line against the Phenomenal, A.J Styles. The WWE Women's and Intercontinental titles are also up for grabs this Sunday, with Charlotte taking on Natalya and the Miz facing fan-favorite Cesaro.

World title on the line - Reigns vs. Styles
Roughly a month after his Wrestlemania moment in Dallas, Reigns is facing legit threat to his throne as the top man in WWE. A.J Styles, who made his WWE debut at this year's Royal Rumble, stormed into the title scene after winning the fatal-four way match to determine the no.1 contender for the WWE championship the night after Wrestlemania.
Styles has built a reputation as one of the most accomplished wrestlers today, winning all kinds of belts around the world. Now, he's setting his sight on the most coveted belt in wrestling entertainment, something Reigns can't afford to give up so easily. Styles, gifted with superior wrestling skills, will be a lot more dangerous because of his alleged affiliation with former Bullet club members Karl Andersen and Luke Gallows. Reigns knows very much that he's in for tough fight at Payback. It's win or go home empty-handed.
Intercontinental, WWE Women's championship, US title and no.1 contenders match for tag-team championship
Aside from the WWE title, three belts and one more no.1 contender match are to be contested on Sunday. Ryback will have a chance to snatch the US title away from Kalisto, as he's slated to wrestle the high-flying superstar in the WWE Payback kick-off.
The Miz is up against Cesaro, who made his comeback the night after Wrestlemania. Despite missing the 7-man ladder match at Mania, the Swiss wrestler secured the right to face the Miz for his title after besting Kevin Owens.
Meanwhile, Charlotte's reign as the Women's champion is in jeopardy as she faces Natalya. Ric Flair has been a big factor in Charlotte's campaign the past few months, but Natalya made sure the Nature Boy won't intervene in their match as she's bringing in Bret 'the Hitman' Hart.
After eight tag-teams and two rounds of elimination, the tournament to determine the no.1 contender for the tag-team title is down to the final two: the Vaudevillains and Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady. The outspoken tag-team of Amore and Cassady has been on a tear since making its debut post-Wrestlemania, as they dominated the Ascension and legendary Tag-team champions, the Dudley Boyz, on their way to the finals. The Vaudevillains also boast a streak of their own, scoring wins over the Social Outcast and the Usos to secure a spot in the final round.
Bad blood and big announcement:
-WWE Payback is not just a venue for title matches, it will also feature bad blood single matches between Dean Ambrose and Chris Jericho, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn and Dolph Ziggler and Baron Corbin.
