Atletico Madrid claimed the first leg with a 1-0 victory at their home field of Vicente Calderón Stadium on April 27th to grab the early lead in their head-to-head contest. The winner of the series will advance in the finals of Europe's most prestigious club continental competitions this season.

Spanish winger Saul Niguez scored the winner for Diego Simeone's side early at the 11th minute of the game via an individual effort from 40 yards out past Bayern defenders Juan Bernat and Xabi Alonso, as reported by SkySports.

Pep Guardiola's boys almost had an immediate answer but Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal's header was blocked by Uruguayan defender Jose Gimenez at the 13th.

Atleti nearly doubled their lead at the half hour mark with a shot from Antoine Griezmann from only six yards, but goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was able to block it away with his feet.

Bayern was in control in most of the second half with Austrian defender David Alaba and Vidal making separate strikes that were both saved by Slovenian goal tender Jan Oblak, as per BBC Sport.

Los Colchoneros last entered the final of the Champions League in 2014 when they lost to eventual champions Real Madrid, 1-4, during extra time. Los Blanco's cross-city rivals had never won the Champions League trophy as they had always been in the shadows of more celebrated Spanish top flight clubs Real and Barcelona.

If Atleti pulls off another win against Die Roten and Real beats Manchester City in the other semis matchup, then the final match this year could be a rematch of the said 2014 final.

The Bavarians was in the final of the 2013 edition against fellow Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund. Der FCB were champions that year after winning the game, 2-1.

The predicted result is another 1-0 victory for Atletico Madrid.
