The Spurs barely missed the English top flight crown this season after settling for a 2-2 draw with, ironically, the defending champions Chelsea FC at the Stamford Bridge on Monday, virtually handing the title to league leaders Leicester City in the process, via BBC Sport.

Tottenham actually built a two-goal lead at halftime with strikes from English Premier League top scorer Harry Kane and South Korean striker Son Heung-min at the 35th and 44th minutes respectively, but the Blues were able to come back and knot the count in the second half.

Defender Gary Cahill netted one two minutes before the hour mark of the game to cut the lead in half before last year's Premier League Player of the Season Eden Hazard finally equalized it at the 83rd to share a point with the Spurs in the overall standings.

It was also noted that nine of head coach Mauricio Pochettino's boys were booked during the drawn match, Tottenham's third in their last six outings, which was a Premier League record.

Meanwhile, Southampton pulled off an impressive 4-2 upset over fourth-running team Manchester City at their home ground of St. Mary's Stadium last Sunday, as per SkySports.

Senegalese midfielder Sadio Mane unleashed a hat trick to lead manager Ronald Koeman's side during the match.

The Saints scored the first two goals of the contest at the 25th and 28th minutes with goals from Irish striker Shane Long and Mane respectively. City's Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho netted one a minute before halftime to make it a 2-1 count at the break.

Mane then scored two more after the restart, at the 57th and 68th minutes, before Iheanacho netted his second at the 78th for the final count.

Southampton is currently at the seventh spot of the league table, only two points behind sixth-placed West Ham United for the final Europa League qualifying slot for next season.

The predicted result is a close 2-1 victory for Tottenham Hotspur.
