New details for "Avengers: Infinity War" will feature a possible new cast of Marvel characters and part one and two of the film will be renamed.
"Captain America: Civil War" directors Joe and Anthony Russo have cited their personal pick of Marvel characters that they wanted to see added in the two-part "Avengers" film, "Avengers: Infinity War". Both brothers told Collider that they wanted to bring Wolverine into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Joe stated that growing up they looked up to Wolverine next to Spider-Man and having the comic book issue of "The Incredible Hulk" guest starring him.
Logan/Wolverine is currently the property of Fox in the "X-Men" movie franchise and portrayed by Hugh Jackman. The character will make his appearance in "X-Men: Apocalypse" this year and his last appearance in "Wolverine 3" as Jackman hinted that he will retire the character after two films.
However, Jackman did expressed interest in letting Wolverine join the MCU and Avengers several years ago as he understands the often complicated and turbulent dynamics between superheroes. Jackman added that he wanted Wolverine to face the Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) in a fight should Logan be included in the MCU.
Aside from Wolverine, the Russo brothers also wanted to add the Great Lakes Avengers team into "Avengers: Infinity War". In the comics, the Great Lakes Avengers are group of not so well known heroes doing good deeds and fighting crime using the "Avengers" name, which members like Hawkeye find it annoying. The group consist of lesser known Marvel characters like Mister Immortal, Big Bertha, Doorman, Flatman and Squirrel Girl.
Joe Russo stated that it will be difficult to tell if these characters will hardly show up in "Avengers: Infinity War" due to them working on it until 2019, but in the long run there might be some opportunities for them to reconsider since the two-part films will have a long way to go until it reached 2019.
In other news, the Russo brothers expressed their desire to rename both part one and two of "Avengers: Infinity War".
In a separate interview, both Joe and Anthony Russo told Uproxx that they felt that the title of the two-part "Avengers" movie is somewhat misleading and they wanted to it to have different storylines.
Several fans theorized that part one of "Avengers: Infinity War" should be renamed "Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet" or "Avengers: Infinity Crusade", while part two should remain as ideal "Infinity War". Recent reports revealed that Russos confirmed that Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel will be added in the new "Avengers" movie as past rumors speculated that Carol will be leading a new team of Avengers against Thanos in part two.
"Avengers: Infinity War" part 1 is slated to be release on May 4, 2018, while part 2 is scheduled on May 3, 2019.
