More signs are coming out that point to an imminent Google Nexus 2016 release date, foremost of which is the 2016 I/O Developers Conference that starts May 18. Yet more solid indicators are the ongoing killer deals that leave the LG Nexus 5 dirt-cheap at $140 and the Huawei Nexus 6P offering savings of up to $150.

Phone Arena spotted the Nexus 5, issued in 2013, selling on Daily Steals for only $139.99, earning buyers the black LG-made device bearing the model number D820. The handset is GSM and should work on compatible networks in the United States and abroad. Specifically, the Nexus 5 in question can be subscribed on AT&T and T-Mobile.

Be reminded though that the Nexus 5 units on sale are refurbished, meaning pre-owned that were reconditioned and given warranty protection. Daily Steals also offer the white version but the asking price is a tad higher at $159.99.

Even as the device is nearing its three-year mark, the deal remains a steal as Phone Arena noted that the Nexus 5 package was way ahead of its time, boasting of a Snapdragon 800 chip that is supported by 2GB of RAM. The IPS LCD screen is stretched at 5-inch that is akin to phablet profile with the display resolution set at 1080p.

Evident too of the Nexus 5 prowess that is not too far behind with today's flagship is the camera system of 8-megapixel on rear and 1.2-megapixel on front. Juicing up the Android device is 2300mAh battery pack.

And the Nexus 5 is made alive by the latest Android in pure version, meaning Marshmallow is default operating system of the deal. Once Android N is up and ready, the device will surely jump to the new build in no time.

But a killer deal that the Nexus 5 is, Android fans can pick the still hot Nexus 6P, which according to Geek Snack is down to $349.99 from the introductory price of $499.99. That means the Best Buy promo for the 32GB version of the device translates to incredible savings of $150.

The Nexus 6P on Best Buy is compelling indeed as the premium build and high-end - headlined by SD 810 and 3GB of RAM - are all wrapped in a vanilla Android experience, all the more equipping the device to go head-to-head with the likes of Apple iPhone 6S and Samsung Galaxy S7.

Now with the Nexus 6P, 5X and older Pure Android handsets increasingly part of killer deals, the belief that the Google Nexus 2016 release date is near gains more ground. And why not when the 2016 I/O is but a couple of weeks away from which Android fans are expecting to witness the launch of Android N and possibly the devices that the OS will first power - the Nexus 7 2016 tab from Huawei and the two Nexus smartphones from HTC.
