Rumors say that not only the Galaxy Note 6 release date will be ahead of schedule, likely as early as July 2016, but the phablet flagship will come in two versions, the second to be called Galaxy Note 6 Lite. Samsung will keep the 5.8-inch screen profile but will power the device with Snapdragon 820 and 4GB of RAM.
This latest talks seem to align with an earlier suggestion that the Note 6 will mighty up with the enhanced version of SD 820, which Qualcomm will market as SD 823. That chip will tap into 6GB of RAM and the 4GB RAM for the Note 6 Lite is likely to differentiate the former from the latter.
Another distinct feature for the Note 6 Lite, according to GSM Arena, is the 1080p display, which is slight step back from the rumored QHD resolution of the regular Galaxy Note 6.
However, the thought of Samsung coming up with a Lite version of the Note 6 seems far-fetched as looking on the whispered specs so far indicate of nearly identical capabilities, which MobiPicker said is Samsung just repeating a previous mistake.
The more likely scenario is of Lite Note 6 with slightly smaller screen and less powerful inside component that Samsung will retail at a cheaper price point. Essentially, it will be the budget version of the Galaxy Note 6 that could possibly increase the model's sales performance, the report said.
Or "the second variant will be the Galaxy Note 6 Edge with the same specs but a larger battery and Samsung's curved Edge display," that according to MobiPicker said should be the preferred route for Samsung's 2016 phablet flagship. The assumption makes sense as the South Korean tech giant will merely employ the same business model seen with the Galaxy S7 push. The device was issued March this year with an Edge sibling that for many is the more compelling build.
The Galaxy Note 6 is touted as the first Samsung device to run on Android N as reports published by Korean media indicate that Samsung's second flagship of the year will unpack immediately after Google's unveiling of the Android Marshmallow replacement.
As Google will stage its I/O Developers Conference starting May 18, Android N is expected to get introduced and deployed in the following weeks. So if the rumors will prove correct, the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 release date could happen between July and August 2016 with the Apple iPhone 7 rival showing off a restraint version or virtually native Android N build.
