Tough team Deportivo de La Coruna (8-11-18, 42 points) is set to take on top contenders Real Madrid CF (27-4-6, 87 points) at the Estadio Municipal de Riazor on May 14th, Saturday as the 2015-2016 La Liga season reaches its final matchday.
Deportivo La Coruna pulled a 2-0 upset win over top four team Villarreal CF on the road at the Estadio El Madrigal last Sunday to snap their six-game winless slide, as per Soccerway.
Moroccan midfielder Faycal Fajr netted the opening goal of the match at the 32nd minute to give his team the lead while teammate Lucas Perez doubled it three minutes before the hour mark in the second half to seal the win for manager Víctor Sánchez's side.
The win settled Deportivo to the 13th spot of the current Spanish top flight table, tied on points with 14th-placed squad Real Betis and six points above the bottom three relegation area, which means that they are safe to remain in La Liga even if they lose this last game against Los Blancos.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid escaped with a 3-2 victory over reeling team Valencia CF at their home ground of Santiago Bernabéu Stadium also last Sunday, as reported by SkySports.
Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace to lead Zinedine Zidane's squad in the surprisingly close contest. Ronaldo netted his first goal at the 26th minute to open the game's scoring before teammate Karim Benzema, another goalscoring machine, doubled the lead at the 42nd as Real finished the first half up 2-0.
Valencia midfielder Rodrigo was able to find the back of Kiko Casilla's net at the 55th to cut the hosts' lead in half, but Ronaldo struck his second goal just four minutes later to push the lead to two points once again, 3-1.
Ronaldo's fellow countryman, Los Che midfielder Andre Gomes, scored at the 81st minute to make it 3-2, but it was the closest Els Taronges could reach as Rodrigo was booked with a straight red and sent off at the 83rd.
A win versus Deportivo and Barcelona's loss to Granada in the season's finale will give Real their 33rd La Liga title in club history. They last won it four years ago, at the end of the 2011-2012 season, before Barcelona and Atletico Madrid alternately claimed the title in the next three years.
The predicted result is a 3-0 blowout for Real Madrid.
