CBS has already renewed "The Big Bang Theory" for Season 10. However, rumours suggest that it will be the final season of the series.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, "The Big Bang Theory" showrunner Steve Molaro said: "The reality is that maybe season 10 is the ending point."
However, Molaro refrained from giving a certain answer. "The real answer is I don't know and all I can do right now is go episode to episode and try to make each one the best that we can," he added.
CBS' number one comedy series airs Season 9 finale on May 12, Thursday. According to the synopsis of episode 24, the show will introduce Leonard's father and feature the return of Leonard's mother and Sheldon's mother. Things are expected to get chaotic when Leonard's recently divorced parents come face to face. They are here to attend Leonard and Penny's official wedding ceremony wherein they renew their vows in the presence of family and friends.
According to TV Line, the finale takes place the night before Leonard and Penny's wedding ceremony. Unfortunately, "The Big Bang Theory" fans will not witness the wedding just yet. It is expected to be aired when the show returns for Season 10 with episode 1, months after Season 9 finale.
THR notes that Season 9 ends in typical "The Big Bang Theory" fashion. In a recent interview, Molaro revealed that the finale ends on a "bit of a cliffhanger with Leonard, Penny and Sheldon in the living room making sense of everything that's going on."
Meanwhile, speculations suggest that "The Big Bang Theory" Season 10 episode 1 picks up from where Season 9 ends and explores the storyline that will possibly involve the gang's extended family. It must be noted that these are mere speculations and lacks official confirmation.
