New leaked images of Samsung Galaxy S7 Active have revealed that the next addition to its S7 range of flagship phones is a military grade smartphone with a tough and rugged casing.
Samsung accidentally disclosed the Galaxy S7 Active when it listed the phone as one of the company's compatible devices in the Company's Play Store. Recently, more details about the device, in form of leaked images, have surfaced online with the credits going to Vietnamese website Samsung Viet.
From the images, it can be noted that Samsung Galaxy S7 Active is not an ordinary Smartphone. It is wrapped in a sturdier protective exterior casing and is not "attractive" like the other S7 phones . In an interview with The Week, one unnamed Samsung staff member said that "Samsung wants the Galaxy S7 Active to look more comfortable in a battlefield than a fashion show."
As reports reveal, on both sides of the phone, thick polycarbonate and rubber cladding run down the exterior, in contrast to the standard glass and metal casing of the ordinary Galaxy S7. Apparently, the Active has an IP68 waterproof and dustproof rating of the original.
However, it is more shock resistant and is in line with military standards, especially when it comes to drop damages. At the front, it also differs from the original in that, the button layout takes up a new form, with three new pill-shaped buttons taking up line at the bottom.
The physical keys give easier usability in much wet conditions, a feature that Samsung has been known to add in its former Active devices. Inside the hard casing, the Galaxy Active is expected to pack the same Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 98890 chipset mated with 4GB of RAM.
The leaked S7 Active has a 5.5-icnh display, although initial listings in India stated 5.1 inches. Besides this, the device has a flat front and will be running on the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system.
The leaks also show the Active with AT&T Stickers, signifying that the phone is also intended for use on the United States carrier. Nevertheless, analysts think that there is nothing to suggest that the handset will be exclusive to the US as previously insinuated.
