Underachieving team Manchester United FC (18-10-9, 63 points) will conclude their 2015-2016 Premier League season campaign taking on last season's the Championship winners AFC Bournemouth (11-17-9, 42 points) at the Old Trafford on Sunday, May 15th.
Manchester United are at the fifth spot of the current league table and two points behind Manchester City, holding a Europa League slot. They still have one chance at landing a UEFA Champions League berth for next season if they win this match versus Boscombe and fourth-placed City loses their season finale against Swansea City on the road.
However, there is also a chance that they can lose their Europa League qualifying berth if they lose to Bournemouth and West Ham United and Southampton win their respective final matches over Stoke City and Crystal Palace.
Indeed, the last matchday of the season will have significant repercussions to the top teams' positions in the final league table.
The Red Devils are coming off a heartbreaking 2-3 loss to West Ham on Tuesday at the Upton Park, as reported by SkySports.
Forward Diafra Sakho opened the scoring at the 10th minute of the match for West Ham as the first ended 1-0 for the hosts.
United winger Anthony Martial then scored the first of his two goals six minutes after the restart to equalize the match at 1-1 before netting his second one at the 72nd, giving Louis van Gaal's boys a 2-1 advantage with 18 plus minutes left in the game.
The Hammers scored the last two goals within the next eight minutes to overtake the Red Devils and stop them from taking over the fourth spot in the league table from City.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth settled for a 1-1 draw with West Brom last Saturday at the Vitality Stadium, as per BBC Sport.
West Brom forward Salomon Rondón broke the deadlock at the 16th minute before Bournemouth midfielder Matt Ritchie leveled it at the 83rd to share a point and keep the two teams tied on points in the overall standings.
The Cherries are safe from relegation as they are now eight points above the bottom three relegation area.
The predicted result is a 3-1 win for Manchester United.
