ASUS is slowly revealing more details with their upcoming ZenFone 3 line of smartphones. Now, the chief executive himself, Jerry Shen has announced that they will be launching the new line in June.
The ZenFone smartphone line has seen success because of its low price range but decent specs. Fans are now waiting for the upgraded phones which would carry the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow version.
Android smartphones tend to be on the cheaper side. However, flagship phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S7 are expensive because of their exceptional specs and features.
ASUS's ZenFone 3 line could be a good balance between an affordable price tag and mid to high-end specs. The previous line has garnered a large community around the smartphones.
The original ZenFone 3 release date was thought to be at the upcoming ASUS Zenvolution event on May 30 just before the Computex 2016 event, Firstpost reported. However, a new announcement from the CEO of ASUS itself has announced that it will be released in June.
There could still be a chance that the company would reveal the new line's specs and features during their event. The Intel logo on the promotional posters does give a clue that the phones could still use Intel chipsets despite the official news that the company will cease their projects with the mobile chips.
Other reports claim the opposite. The new smartphones could be using chipsets from Qualcomm instead, which could signal an increase in the power and efficiency of the models.
Shen said that more than 90 percent of the ZenFone 3 smartphones will sport processors from Qualcomm, Digitimes has learned. For the remaining percentage, they would be using MediaTek chipsets instead.
The higher-end smartphones in the new line could be the ones powered by Snapdragon chipsets. MediaTek chipsets are known for their cheap price and it translates to the final price tag of a smartphone.
ASUS said that the ZenFone 3 line will continue to compete within the $300 price range market. However, the ZenFone 3 Deluxe could cost more considering that it will have better specs compared to the base models.
