Android fans are convinced that in order to best showcase the new capabilities cooked up with Android N, its revelation via the Google I/O 2016 that will start May 18 will be accompanied by a fresh device revelation. And the chance is high that will be the Nexus 7 2016 tablet and the release date of which could follow shortly.

Here are the revealed details so far on the next Nexus compact tablet, including the minimum expectations:

Huawei Nexus 7

With the Nexus 6P well-received, it seems automatic that Google will assign another Pure Android device to Chinese device maker Huawei and many believe it will be the third instalment of the 7-inch Nexus 7. The general vision is a small tablet that has the winning qualities of the 6P - the premium and solid build and the uncompromising hardware specifications.

It was thought that HTC was contender but the Taiwanese company is considered a lock-in to two Nexus smartphones. Asus was also a candidate but the dismal performance of the first two Nexus 7s might have convinced Google to look for a different player.

3 models to pick

Flagships that have come out so far offer basic storage of 32GB, which likely Google will adopt for its Nexus lines including its tablet. As microSD slot or memory expansion is out of the question for the upcoming Nexus tab, the device will possibly roll out in three flavors - 32GB, 64GB and the most high-end option of 64GB storage configuration.

No SD 820

It would be nice if the Nexus 7 2016 is powered by the best and greatest from Qualcomm, which is Snapdragon 820, but as suggested by Ubergizmo, using the mighty processing chip could make the tablet unreachable or expensive so the Snapdragon 625 is more likely. Boosting its speed is 4GB of RAM provision.

Retina-buster display

To be worthy of challenging the Apple iPad Mini and Samsung Galaxy Tab, the Nexus 7 should be delight to look at and Google is making it happen with a 7-inch screen fired up by QHD technology in stunning 1080p display.

Android N

Rumors say that quite a number of Android N feature bumps are designed for optimal tablet use, with specifically the new Nexus 7 in mind. Beta builds of the Google mobile OS showed that multitasking functions such as Split Screen and Floating or Resizable app windows will be natively supported. Doze is also seen to be further enhanced for increased productivity.

Pricing and release date

The Nexus blueprint is known to champion powerful device that is affordable at the same time. Going by this model but with adjustment to the current flagship standard, the latest Nexus 7 instalment should be tagged no more than $400 for it to stay cheaper than the iPad Mini.

And as mentioned, the Nexus 7 2016 intro is highly likely via the I/O event this week with the actual release date happening within or in the immediate weeks or days ahead.
