In 2014, several big corporations were victims to malicious hacking groups. Even Microsof's very own Xbox Live service was not spared by the hackers.

Perhaps the most notable of all the hacks that occurred in 2014 was the attack made by the group "Guardians of Peace" against the Sony systems as the group attempts to suppress the release of the movie "The Interview."

The Sony hack garnered so much publicity that it even sparked a worldwide tension between the United States and North Korea. Both Sony and the US government levied the blame on North Korea as the one responsible for the attack, according to Deadline.

The hack also leaked several private email conversations of Sony executives along with private employee information. The hackers also leaked unreleased scripts for upcoming movies as well as copies of movies about to be released.
