Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) are back as the "Prison Break: Sequel" release date has been announced. Along with "Shots Fired," the sequel is one of the two event series included in the schedule of Fox in 2017.
Joining Miller and Purcell in the cast of "Prison Break: Sequel" are Sarah Wayne Callies as Dr. Sara Tancredi, Christian Michael Cooper as Mike Scofield, Steve Mouzakis as Van Gogh, Curtis Lum as Henry Kishida, Numan Acar as Abu Jamal, Michael Benyaer as Zakat, Akin Gazi as Omar and Bobby Naderi as Mustapha. Other cast members include Faran Tahir, Marina Benedict, Waleed Zuaiter and Victor Favrin.
Aside from "Prison Break" and "Shots Fired," the schedule of Fox series to premiere in 2017 are the dramas "APB," "Pitch," "Star" and "24: Legacy" as well as comedies "Making History" and "The Mick." Also in the lineup are reality competitions "My Kitchen Rules" and "Kicking and Screaming."
In a statement released by Fox, Fox Television Group chairmen and CEOs Dana Walden and Gary Newman said that the network have more original programming across their schedule than ever before. The network unveiled its primetime slate for the 2016-2017 television season at the Beacon Theatre during its annual Programming Presentation.
"We'll use our strong established hits in the fall and SUPER BOWL LI in winter to launch a diverse slate of shows that are unmistakably FOX," Walden and Newman said in the statement. They also expressed how proud they are of their new series created and directed by some of the entertainment industry's most celebrated talent said they are pleased to be returning many of their most beloved shows including the top-rating show "Empire" to their schedule.
Seven years after "Prison Break" Season 4 ended in 2009, Miller and Purcell joined the cast of "Legends of Tomorrow." They play Leonard Snart/Captain Cold and Mick Rory/Heat Wave, respectively.
Like "The Flash" and "Arrow," "Legends of Tomorrow" is co-created and executive produced by Greg Berlanti. In an interview with Deadline, he said Miller "won't be part of the team of Legends on board of The Waverider next year."
