Miss A's Suzy, whose real name is Bae Su Ji, has been a victim of identity theft. Most recent news noted that Suzy's personal information and picture were allegedly stolen by a group of suspected criminals in India.
On May 18, Wednesday, a group of criminals in India was captured under the suspicion of carrying out various undisclosed crimes. While few details have been released about the case, the local authorities found a bank book with Suzy's photo on it, while searching through the possessions of the arrested criminals, The Korea Times reported.
It turned out that the culprit downloaded Suzy's picture from the Internet and even used it to open fake bank accounts. The 21-year-old actress recently learned of this and will most probably pursue strong legal action to make sure something like this will not happen again.
"We believed this happened because Suzy is a well-known celebrity and her picture can be easily found on the Internet," a representative from Suzy's agency, JYP Entertainment, said in a statement obtained by Soompi on April 19, Thursday. "Since this incident happened in India, we are still trying to find out the details.
This is just one of the numerous cases of celebrities who have become victims of identity theft schemes over the previous years. In July 2015, the personal information and personal seal or stamp of the "Pinocchio" star Lee Jong Suk had been stolen by someone in a case of fraud.
It was earlier reported that the person who faked Lee's personal stamp is someone that is well connected in the entertainment industry. The perpetrator allegedly faked Lee's stamp to draft up an exclusive management contract and additionally, brought in several investments using the actor's name.
In other news, Bae Suzy will make her next television screen appearance beginning July 6 along with Kim Woo Bin in the forthcoming TV series called "Uncontrollably Fond." She will be playing the documentary producer, No Eul, who values money over justice, while Woo Bin is poised to play the astute and alluring top actor-singer named Shin Joon Young.
The 20-part melodrama TV series will hit the airwaves in South Korea, mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and North America. It is directed by Park Hyun Suk based on the script penned screenwriter Lee Kyung Hee.
