Sony is opening the registration for their new and upcoming Xperia X and Xperia XA Android smartphones for interested customers in India, which would be one of the company's largest market for mobile.
The Xperia X and the Xperia XA have been unveiled by Sony during the Mobile World Congress. In terms of specs, the two phones can be put in the mid to high-end category in the spectrum of smartphones.
Sony's mobile business has taken more hits as overall smartphone sales in the world have been declining lately. While they are a known brand, some users stray away from their line of phones because they are often too expensive and other brands' phones have nearly the same specs for a cheaper price tag.
The Xperia XA is considered to be the lower-end smartphone for the series. It has a 5-inch display with a pixel resolution of 1280 x 720 and is powered by the Helio P10 SoC.
In terms of storage, it just has 16GB for the internal memory and 2GB of RAM. The rear camera has 13 megapixels with Exmore RS while the front snapper has 8 megapixels with Exmor R, Android Central reported.
Meanwhile, the more powerful Sony Xperia X has a similar 5-inch display but with a full high-definition pixel resolution of 1920 x 1080. It is powered by a Snapdragon 650 SoC from Qualcomm and paired with 3GB of RAM plus 32GB for the internal storage.
For the camera, the more powerful model has 23MP for the rear and an impressive 13MP for the front. Both will have the Exmore RS camera sensors, Android Authority reported.
The Sony Xperia XA and the Xperia X will both have support for expandable storage through microSD card slots. They will also both run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box with Sony's own user interface.
Another advantage of the higher-end model is that it has LTE Category 6 and a 2620mAh battery. The lower-end model only has LTE Category 4 and a battery capacity of 2300mAh.
Sony has not yet announced the official prices and availability of the Sony Xperia XA and the Xperia X. Registrations are now open for interested users and customers in India.
