Xiaomi has teased fans in their own forums that they could be launching their very own drone soon in order to compete with other international companies in the tech industry.
The Chinese tech company has become one of the fastest growing smartphone manufacturers in China. Now, Xiaomi could already be developing their first drone which is unexpected because they primarily sell smartphones and tablets.
Drones can be used by both casual users and enterprises as well. They are also a big hit for filmmakers as some drones today have built-in cameras that can even shoot 4K video for those impressive aerial footages.
Xiaomi has teased their fans on their forums by posting several images that show a drone and some kind of a flying technology, Ubergizmo reported. They have not given any concrete details yet but the posters could mean that the company will announce what they are planning soon.
"Something wonderful and cool is flying to us very soon. ABamboo-copter? In China, it's the earliest flying toys consisted of feathers at the end of a stick, which was rapidly spun between the hands and released into flight," Xiaomi posted in the forums.
Xiaomi's drone would join the recently unveiled Mi 5 and the planned Android TV box for users in the United States, 9 to 5 Google reported. The ambitious tech company is pulling all the stops and expanding their horizon for their products.
Earlier reports have suggested that Xiaomi could have been developing the drone for quite some time now. They already have a patent for a quadcopter that could be controlled through a wearable device such as their Mi Smartwatch or Mi Band 2.
The drone from Xiaomi could also be connected through an app for their smartphones. It could give users the option to record or snap photos if it has a built-in camera inside.
Xiaomi fans will have to wait for the official announcement of their drone on May 25. The company could finally unveil the specs of the drone and confirm whether it would have 4K video capability and if it could be tethered to their smartwatches or smartphones.
