"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 4 is expected to premiere on ABC in September. It is likely that "The Mummy" actor John Hannah will reprise his role as Holden Radcliffe in the fourth season of the series based on the Marvel Comics organization S.H.I.E.L.D.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Maurissa Tancharoen said they like Hannah and described him as "an interesting character." Her fellow "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." showrunner said they like the actor very much and they love how he interacts with their people.
Considering that Hydra is really gone, the showrunners were asked who is likely to be the new bad for Season 4. Jed Whedon said they are having conversations about replacing the void left by Hydra and noted, "They're going nowhere, but we're having them."
"Look, what we have is an extraordinary library," Marvel Television head Jeph Loeb added. He explained that the idea is to be able to find out who the new bad is going to be and make that person work within the story that they have.
Hannah made his debut in "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." in Season 3 episode 18 titled "The Singularity," which aired on April 26. Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) sought out Hannah's character a transhumanist believing in the improvement of humanity through enhancement.
Radcliffe's studies of parasites could help with counteracting the abilities of Hive (Brent Dalton). In "Gotham" Season 3 finale, the former turned his artificial intelligence AIDA into a Life Model Decoy.
Aside from playing Radcliffe in "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," Hannah is also set to play Theseus in the TV film adaptation of William Shakespeare's play "A Midsummer Night's Dream," which will air on May 30 on BBC. Directed by David Kerr and written by Russell T. Davies, the modern-day TV movie will feature a lesbian kiss between Titania (Maxine Peake) and Hippolyta (Eleanor Matsuura) share at the end.
"My feeling about the end of the play is that Titania is submissive to Oberon and he gets away with his tricks," Davies told The Guardian. Oberon will be played by Nonso Anozie, who plays Abraham Kenyatta in "Zoo."
Davies said he added an LGBT element in the TV movie because "it's 2016." Joining Hannah, Peake, Matsuura and Anozie in the cast are Rachael Leigh Cook, Hamish Linklater, Finn Wittrock, Avan Jogia, Paz De La Huerta, Fran Kranz, Lily Rabe, Charity Wakefield and Ted Levine, among others.
