Playboy founder Hugh Hefner's connection with Bill Cosby has become contentious in the recent week after his name got entangled in the comedian's present legal battles. Hefner's deposition on May 18, Wednesday, was centered on claims that Cosby sexually molested a 15-year-old in the 1970s.
The deposition was videotaped at the Playboy Mansion in which contents remain under seal for now, People reported. In a statement obtained by the publication from alleged Cosby victim Judy Huth's attorney, Gloria Allred, they were not permitted to discuss any details of Hefner's deposition due to a protective order.
In 2014, Huth filed a sexual assault case against Cosby that claimed the latter molested her inside the Playboy Mansion in 1974 when she was just 15 years old. Huth claimed that Cosby forced her to do a malicious act on him without her permission.
It was the second time for Hefner to get involved in Cosby's legal woes in a week. On May 16, Monday, a former model Chloe Goins filed a complaint against Cosby for reportedly drugging and sexually harassing her at the Playboy Mansion in 2008. Goins also sued Hefner in the case reportedly because he was a complicit in the assault.
Goins, who was 18 at that time, claimed that she felt dizzy after Cosby offered her a drink. Hefner introduced Cosby to her at that time. She claimed Cosby brought her to a room after she felt sick and lost consciousness.
In the lawsuit filing, the Las Vegas model/dancer added that she awoke with no clothes and claimed the disgraced TV actor sexually harassed her. She filed a case against Cosby in 2015 but left the lawsuit in February after the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office ruled there was no criminal charges against Cosby.
Hefner was sued in the case after reopening it last week because Goins claimed he should have known better and warned her about Cosby's history of sexually attacking women at the mansion. The lawsuit is seeking damages for sexual battery, intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress, gender violence and conspiracy.
In 2015, Cosby faced interrogations from Allred and other lawyers under the court order. His deposition was the first time he has talked about the sexual allegations filed against him since his first deposition in Pennsylvania in 2005, according to New York Daily News.
Huth and Goins are just two of the more than 50 women who have accused Cosby of drugging and sexually attacking them. Despite the claims, Cosby and his attorneys have constantly dismissed the allegations.
