In the last couple of weeks, several tech manufacturing companies have unveiled their latest mid-range smartphone offerings. Arguably, the most talked about releases are Samsung's Galaxy J7 2016 and Lenovo's Moto G4 Plus.
Samsung announced the arrival of the newest handset in their Galaxy J line, the Galaxy J7, in April. No less than a few weeks later, Lenovo followed suit, confirming the release of their Moto G4 Plus.
The two mid-range phones are eerily similar in specifications and capabilities. There is, however, the question of which one is the better buy. Below is a quick comparison between Samsung's Galaxy J7 2016 and Lenovo's Moto G4 Plus:
Design
According to Nashville Chatter, the Galaxy J7 2016 is aesthetically similar to Samsung's more high-end models. Both phones are equipped with a 5.5 inch display. However, the Moto G4 seems to be packed with more pixels at FHD 1080p screen resolution as opposed to the HD 720p resolution of the Galaxy J7 2016.
The Galaxy J7 2016 and the Moto G4 Plus clock in at around 6 inches in length. However, the J7 is heavier at 170 grams than the 155 grams of the Moto G4 Plus.
Specifications
The Lenovo offering is powered by a Snapdragon 617 processor while Samsung's new mid-range phone is equipped with an Exynos 1.6 Ghz octa-core processor. According to the International Business Times, the J7 comes packed with 16GB of internal memory and 3GB of RAM. On the other hand, the Moto G4 Plus comes in either 16 GB or 32 GB of memory and 2 GB or 3 GB of RAM.
Camera-wise, it seems like the Moto G4 has the leg up with 16 MP rear camera and 5 MP front camera. The Galaxy J7 is equipped with a 13 MP primary camera and a 5 MP front camera with flash.
Price
True to its mid-range qualification, the Samsung's Galaxy J7 currently sells for around $240. On the other hand, the cheaper Moto G4 Plus model sells for $200. The more expensive version, equipped with 3GB of RAM and 32 GB of memory, goes for around $220.
