Netflix has green-lit Marvel's "Jessica Jones" for another season, with Krysten Ritter reprising her role as the reluctantly badass heroine. After bringing home high praises and positive reviews, fans are more than excited to see where Jessica's journey is going in the aftermath of Kilgrave's death.
"Jessica Jones" showrunner Melissa Rosenberg hinted that Season 2 will deviate a bit from the main arc to focus on its second characters. The first season did an ace job at building the show's supporting cast, so "Jessica Jones" Season 2 will dwell on exploring each character's storyline.
It is widely speculated that Trish Walker, played by Rachel Taylor, will transition into her superhero alter-ego Hell Cat.
"I think there's so many layers to this character," Taylor told Entertainment Tonight. "One of the things I'm really looking forward to, aside from all of the potential martial arts or athleticism, is seeing her relationship with her mother unfold a little bit more."
Both Ritter and Taylor also agree that they have "natural chemistry," and that it would be interesting to see how their friendship would "unfold in different ways" in "Jessica Jones" Season 2.
Aside from Trish Walker, there are also rumblings about Will Simpson (played by Will Traval) possibly morphing into his alter-ego Nuke. In "Jessica Jones" Season 1, Will displayed episodes of aggression, a behavior attributed to Nuke.
Although he is about to star in his own series, Mike Colter is also expected to reprise his role as Luke Cage in "Jessica Jones" Season 2. Colter and Ritter revealed that they enjoyed working with each other, and that they are both "on the same page" when it comes to their characters.
"I love me some Mike Coulter," Ritter said playfully.
As to Jessica's own story, Rosenberg teased that there are still "some really complicated stuff going on" in the wake of Kilgrave's death.
"She spends most of the show trying to get him into prison. She doesn't want to kill him, but that becomes her only choice," Rosenberg told Entertainment Weekly about the depth of Kilgrave's lingering effect on Jessica. "I don't think all that trauma and PTSD goes away now that she kills him."
Rosenberg also assured fans that even with the new elements that will be incorporated in "Jessica Jones" Season 2, the show will still be about her own "personal story."
"Jessica Jones, her journey is a very personal one, it's very intimate," Rosenberg detailed. "So, the guys coming in to take over the city, she doesn't really care, she's like 'Take us down, I just need to pay my rent.' Whatever we do, it will be personal to her. It will be a personal story."
"Jessica Jones" Season 2 will begin production next year.
