Malia Obama, now a high school junior was spotted with her mother, first lady Michelle Obama in New York on Friday visiting colleges. Like other high school juniors, she's on the lookout for the school that she would want to apply in and study.
According to the NYU Local, the Obamas were seen at the New York University being toured by guide and followed by a host of Secret Service agents. Malia's younger singer, Sasha also tagged along. They were treated to a private tour of Goddard Hall as well as Weinstein Hall. Pictures surfaced in social media of them enjoying the tour.
New York University reportedly made some preparations over this visit. Elevators were shut down for 10 minutes. The source claimed that everyone was told there were issues with the elevators, but he personally knew the truth. "Apparently everyone was told that the elevators were 'shut down' for the 10 minutes they were in the building... but I knew the truth!" said the source.
Apart from the NYU, the Columbia Daily Spectator reported that the Obamas also toured Columbia University. The Obamas were seen eating at a restaurant called the "Community Food and Juice." They even checked out the private women's college affiliated with Colombia, Barnard College.
Malia, who is currently studying at the private Sidwell Friends School in Washington, has already checked out other schools of interest, such as Stanford University in California. Whether or not she'll follow her father's footsteps and become a "Lion" remains to be seen.
