Barry Allen has always been the optimistic guy who constantly leaned towards the brighter side of things, despite being faced with adversities. But he is facing a really difficult time in his life after he witnessed Zoom kill his father, Henry, in the penultimate episode of "The Flash" Season 2. The death of his father is expected to set a more "emotional" tone for the show's third outing.
Much of the first season of "The Flash" dwelled on Barry investigating his mother's death in an attempt to free his father from prison. It turned out that the person who posed himself as Barry's mentor, Harry Wells, turned out to be the evil Reverse Flash that killed his mother. But he managed to keep his emotions in check throughout the second season. And it seems that things will be the same for Barry in "The Flash" season 3.
"He will obviously be in the darkest place. [He's] very vulnerable. The thing about Barry Allen, The Flash, is he is an optimistic character and his kind of way of life is to keep moving forward and to stay as positive as possible. I imagine we're not going to lose that," Grant Gustin told TV Line at The CW Upfront event.
According to ComicBook.com, Gustin is determined to Barry's usual viewpoint, which is that his "whole perspective on life is to constantly move forward with his life, and let his past be a part of it, but stay optimistic and kind of live your life."
"He'll find a way to deal with this. He's not going to let it ruin him. It's going to be hard to come back from this one, but he'll stay optimistic," the 26-year-old actor said.
Meanwhile, The Flash will go head to head with Zoom in a life-changing race on "The Flash" Season 2 finale episode. The brief synopsis tells that Barry "vows to do whatever it takes" to stop Zoom from executing his evil plan. Will The Flash finally put an end to Zoom?
"The Flash" Season 2 to close with "The Race of His Life" on Tuesday on The CW.
