The Jon Snow effect as it is being described online is indeed too great to ignore. Apart from his so-called miraculous comeback from the dead, the influence of Snow goes beyond the realm of Game of Thrones.
Kit Harrington, who plays the young bastard of Ned Stark, has indeed captivated a lot of audiences worldwide. A testament to this is his ever growing fan-based and of course the demand of men's perm to imitate the hairdo of the young Stark.
Sara Benitez, who works at an NYC-based salon, is a living witness to the influence that Harrington's Game of Thrones character has brought to the table of style and grooming. In an interview with Mashable, Benitez stated that:
"It's definitely become bigger in this year alone. It's very of-the-moment. Men are more confident and now it's more public that it's okay to get perms and okay to change your image."
The hair of Kit is indeed a trendsetter, for apart from the saloon, men in the barbershop are also requesting similar hair style that of Jon Snow. In the United Kingdom, a certain barbershop capitalizes on the current trend as it relates its latest offer of perm services.
"Men's perms are becoming extremely popular in our barbershop," says Gemma Davies via Mashable, co-owner of R&G Barbershops. "We have guys who come back after having perms wanting more.
The said hairstyle craze is not something new, in fact, it was even popularized by other influential and popular individuals in the past. However, there is something different from Jon or Kit's style. Laura Bolt, a men's grooming expert, was reportedly quoted saying that:
"Good hair, and lots of it is sexy. There's something about curls that feel luxurious and a little genetically blessed." She then added that "the Jon Snow look has a looser, scruffier, undone edge to it. Like, he's too busy defending the wall to think about how his hair looks and at the end of the day. The IDGAF attitude is hot."
However, apart from the attention that the hairstyle of Jon Snow is getting, Kit Harrington is somehow having a hard time with regards to his current hairstyle. Based on reports, it has become for Kit to lie or deceive people about the fate of his character in Game of Thrones. Kit stated via Winter is Coming that:
"Nobody's noticed I've had short hair. We've chopped most of it off, and people were like, 'Oh look, he's still got long hair.' So that didn't work as well."
