There is still no confirmation as to when the "Hunter X Hunter" manga series will resume. Series writer Yoshihiro Togihashi has been on hiatus for quite some time already. It can be recalled that the series stopped progressing in 2014 when Togihashi took a break to attend to his health problemsof chronic lower back pain.
The most recent volume published was still from December 2012. As of the moment, the series' current break is already approaching its fourth year, the reason why fans have been expressing their dismay and disappointment over the large in-between gaps per chapter.
Several graphs released online pointed out how the series fared in terms of chapter release starting from the previous years up to present time. A "hiatus chart" was used to determine how much breaks the series already had where each chapter was color coded to provide distinction. Based on the graph used, the series has taken more breaks compared to how much of it was released from 1998 to 2016, Anime News Network reported.
Breaking several information gathered by tracking the series' publication, it was found out that the series has been missing all of its issues since 2015. The first few years from 1998 to 2003 had fewer breaks compared to its succeeding years where the percent hiatus reached at 53 percent in 2004. Since this year, published chapters have become very few, Hunter X Hunter Hiatus List reported in their official site.
These long breaks have been linked to Togashi's illness which affected the series' publication. Several reports revealed that the "Yu Yu Hakusho" author is experiencing chronic lower back pains. The pain did not seem to improve over the years the reason why he is still having difficult times lately.
Will Togashi be able to recuperate this year? Will the missed issues be able to catch up with time? Will the series' publication still continue or is it time for it to be dismissed?
Fans may be hopeful positive developments will come in the succeeding months. Other fans may still be dismayed with the current status of "Hunter X Hunter."
