Actor Song Joong-Ki has yet again proven himself to be the CF king, as the 30-year-old actor nabbed the number one spot as Korea's CF model for the third month in a row since March.
According to the Korea Institute of Corporate Reputation, Song occupied the top spot as the most memorable endorsement model for the month of May. Tailing him in second was a Seattle Mariners' baseball player Lee Dae Ho, while "Cheese in the Trap" lead star Kim Go Eun takes the third spot.
It was learned that 23 top CF models were examined by the Korea Institute of Corporate Reputation based on the 43,790,880 pieces of data from April 27 to May 28, Soompi reported. The results of CF models who are esteemed the most are based on a brand reputation index and consumer review.
"When we looked at the May data for CF models, because of a lot of negative data, a lot of CF models' values decreased," a representative told All K-pop. "It's true that they need to have a lot of exposures, but it's also important to have a positive image."
Seolhyun of girl group AOA's came in fourth place, while celebrity chef Baek Jong Won is in the fifth spot. Song Hye Kyo, who swept the second place in March and April, came in sixth place, while "Reply 1988's" co-stars Park Bo Gum and Ryu Jun Yeol ranked eighth and ninth spot, respectively.
Meanwhile, Joong-Ki experienced a tremendous growth in his popularity throughout Asia, after he took on the lead role in the KBS2's "Descendants of the Sun" along with Hye Kyo. Written by screenwriter Kim Eun Sook, the drama series was unbelievably prominent across the globe with the final episode recording a 38.8 percent viewership rating.
As a result, Joong-Ki became the face of more than 30 international and local brands, including Jeju Air, Forencos, Dongwon F&B, Domino's Pizza, ShinSung, and Baskin Robbins and among others. He is also nominated for Best Actor (TV), Most Popular Actor (TV) and iQiyi Special Award categories for "Descendants of the Sun" in 52nd Baeksang Arts Awards.
Further, Joong-Ki, who made his acting debut in the 2008's "A Frozen Flower," will make his big screen appearance in 2017's historical-period film, "Battleship Island, along with Hwang Jung Min and So Ji Sub. He will portray a member of the Korean Independence group, Park Moo Yeong, who sneaks onto the island to rescue an associate.
