South Korean actor Song Joong-Ki will make a special cameo appearance in the upcoming KBS2 web-drama, "The Sound of Heart," starring Lee Kwang Soo. The forthcoming drama is based on the popular webcomic "Maeumui Soi" by Jo Suk, which is first published from Sept. 8, 2006, in Naver TV.
"Song Joong Ki is participating today in the shooting for KBS 2TV web drama 'The Sound of Your Heart," an associate from Blossom Entertainment told Daily Spots, as cited by Yonhap News Agency on May 17, Tuesday.
"The Sound of Heart" is the principal online exclusive series to be created by the state broadcaster's entertainment department, which showcased the 12-episode mockumentary TV series called "The Producers." The upcoming web-drama adaptation depicts various stories of real-life cartoonist Jo Suk (Lee) and the people around him, including his older brother Jo Joon (Kim Dae Myung) and his girlfriend Ae Bong (Jung So Min).
The drama is directed by Ha Byung Hoon in view of the script penned by screenwriter Lee Byung Hoon. The web drama also stars Kim Byung Ok and Kim Mi Kyung as Jo Suk's father and mother, respectively.
Although Song will film his cameo appearance today, May 17, it was learned that the web drama will air in the latter half of this year in Naver TVCast and will hit KBS 2TV's airwaves after being re-edited later.
The 30-year-old actor's cameo appearance was made possible, thanks to his friendship with "Running Man" star Lee. The two became friends through their time as original cast members in the said variety show along with Yoo Jae Suk, Kim Jong Kook, Ji Suk Jin, Haha, and Gary.
However, Song left the show's main cast in 2011 to focus on his acting career. Nonetheless, the two stayed dear companions for more than seven years. In fact, Lee has previously shown his support for Song by making a cameo appearance in the pilot episode of the recent mega-hit TV series called "Descendants of the Sun."
During the drama's wrap-up press conference on April 15, Song talked about his best friend Lee. He addressed Lee making a small cameo appearance on the drama by saying, "I'm really thankful that Kwang Soo made a cameo appearance, but I'm also feeling a bit sorry towards him because I feel like Kwang Soo's talent is spent on making cameos a lot of the time."
Song went ahead to reveal that he and Lee never discussed doing cameos and stressed that the latter probably appeared on the show as his way to help the former, stating that it was his comeback drama after completing his 21 months of mandatory military service in May 2015, Soompi reported.
