Actvision recently confirmed that the upcoming game sequel "Destiny 2" is slated for launching in 2017. However, platform release in PS4, XBox and even PC is still unconfirmed.
"Destiny 2" has been delayed for two years as it was originally planned to be launched last September 2014. As of the moment, it is also still unknown whether the upcoming sequel will be released in the same platform like the first "Destiny" in PS4 and XBox One, neither a PC release was confirmed too, Video Gamer reported.
The same report added that the reason for the game's delay is a massive reboot brought about by Bungie's staff re-organization. That being said, the sequel's director was replaced by "Taken King" director Luke Smith, who will now become on top of the game's development.
Meanwhile, despite the delay for its sequel, game developer Bungie has announced that they will be releasing a large expansion for the game this year. CFO Dennis Durken confirmed that although they would not be releasing the sequel in 2016, they are expecting to deliver a new expansion, Kotaku reported.
During the investor call last February Durken announced, "On Destiny, we expect to deliver a new expansion in 2016 but note that we no longer expect a full game Destiny release during the year," he said. "We do however expect a full game Destiny sequel to now come in 2017."
It can be recalled that the last expansion for "Destiny" was launched in 2014. This 2016, it is expected that "Taken King" will be replaced with a new expansion dubbed as "Rise of Iron."
The report confirmed that a new raid will be added in the upcoming expansion, revolving around "fallen with a twist." It was revealed that this raid has been in development for months already and was initially planned to launch in April but was delayed at the start of 2016. The new DLC is expected to become available by September and will be given highlight during the upcoming E3 Conference in June.
