"Ghostbusters" actress Melissa McCarthy is not worried about the kind of negative comments that the trailer of the film has been subjected to so far. Instead, she hopes that the online haters find a real friend in their lives.
McCarthy hit back at the "Ghostbusters" trolls recently during an interview with The Guardian. Rather than getting angry at the haters, the actress explained how she really understands what is going on in the mind of the movie trailer critics.
First of all, there are a lot of people who do not want to see a remake of their favorite 1984 comedy. Secondly, a part of the audience cannot tolerate the lead roles being occupied by females. People's view of the upcoming movie remains the same, despite the fact that Paul Feig is not making a word-by-word remake the previous movie. Neither the movie is being produced to overwrite the complete existence of the old movie.
McCarthy has worked on several projects with her husband Ben Falcone. The couple has gifted several profitable and middle-budget comedies to the public, including "Tammy" and "The Boss." However, Ghostbusters trailer is being criticized at a large level and has eventually been dubbed as the most disliked trailer ever, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Under such circumstances, McCarthy could not hold herself from firing back at the haters.
"All those comments - 'You're ruining my childhood!' I mean, really. Four women doing any movie on earth will destroy your childhood?" McCarthy said, in an interview with The Guardian. "I have a visual of those people not having a Ben, not having friends, so they're just sitting there and spewing hate into this fake world of the internet. I just hope they find a friend."
McCarthy has spent almost 11 years of successful marriage with Falcone so far. Even today, she blushes off on his name and has several framed magazine covers at her home featuring her and Falcone. She describes her husband as the calm, reasonable and the funniest man in the entire world.
"Ghostbusters" is slated for release on 11 July. Meanwhile, the following trailer has been the subject of online negativity since the time of its release:
