An ad presented during the recent edition of "WWE Monday Night Raw" revealed that the superstar Goldberg will be part of the "WWE 2K17" roster of playable characters. Earlier that day, "WWE 2K17" was officially released on the online WWE shop as pre-order.
Aside from the addition of Goldberg into the roster, "WWE 2K17" was also confirmed for a release on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 consoles. It appears that the game's publisher, 2K Games, has yet to abandon the previous generation of console unlike most publishers nowadays.
Many gaming enthusiasts noticed that WWE have used iconic wrestling figures in order to improve its roster but also to build hype to the game, according to Game and Guide. A handful of Goldberg character skins are expected to be included in the pre-order package. These are the WCW Goldberg with Black Tights, WCW Goldberg with Black and White Tights. Two arenas were also added to the package, the WCW Nitro and Halloween Havoc arenas.
This is the third year in a row that a WWE video game adds perks and bonuses to those of purchased it as pre-order. Two years ago, the superstar Sting was added as a bonus. Last year, it was Arnold Schwarzenegger, according to Attack of the Fanboy.
Following the revelation of rosters for the upcoming "WWE 2K17" title, many fans were speculating that the game might be released as a two-part title in order to follow the current brand split storyline. While this seems to be a long shot, some gamers are still expecting the "Raw vs. Smackdown" storyline to be released in order to give more insight about the ongoing brand rivalry.
With the inclusion of Goldberg in this year's roster, many consider the "WWE 2K17" roster to be the richest in recent history. With the rumored brand split story line, gamers are still speculating regarding how the WWE Draft will be affected.
Since the full roster of "WWE 2K17" has yet to surface, some fans are speculating who among the current pool of superstars will make it to the list. Among the fan favorites expected to debut this year are AJ Styles, Braun Strowman, Austin Aries, Asuka, American Alpha, Mauro Ranallo, Shinsuke Nakamura, and The Four Horsewomen.
