The latest details for "Overwatch" will feature two new characters coming soon and Blizzard Entertainment debunks release date delay of the new "Competitive Mode".
Several reports revealed that Blizzard Entertainment will be launching a new game mode for "Overwatch" called "Competitive Mode" as a means of having ranked matches for players based on their performance in qualifying matches. The game mode was not included in the game's launch, but game director and designer Jeff Kaplan stated that it will be added sometime in July, as Blizzard wanted to release it within the month.
However, a recent tweet from the official "Overwatch" Twitter account stated that "Competitive Mode" is still on track on its June release date and made an apology to the gaming fans for the error.
Blizzard stated in an interview that they will be adding more gameplay features for "Overwatch" as lead software engineer Rowan Hamilton told Gamespot that they are trying improve the "Play of the Game" feature and what the studio is currently working on based from a new algorithm and "tweak" the numbers that deterimines which is the "Play of the Game".
That algorithm often favours damage-dealing heroes such as Bastion and Torbjorn rather than support characters like Mercy, Symmetra or even Tank characters like Reinhardt. Hamilton added that they will included new features such as determining how hard a shot was to hit based on how fast the target was moving or how far away the target was moving.
Blizzard will also have gameplay changes for McCree, D,Va and Reaper soon.
In other news, it seems that two "Overwatch" characters will be added as new DLCs for the game and these are Sombra and Liao.
Liao is one of the founding members of "Overwatch" along with Jack Morrison/Soldier:76, Gabriel Reyes/Reaper, Ana Amari, Torbjorn and Reinhardt. Several fan speculations revealed that Liao may have a connection with the team's climatologist and current playable character Mei-Ling Zhou.
Sombra on the other hand, is said to be "support sniper" with a "masked" motif similar to Soldier: 76 and Reaper and was originally part of the roster until Blizzard removed that character before its supposed launch date. Sombra's weapon is a a high-powered sniper rifle, more similar to those used in modern military first-person shooters than Widowmakers' machine gun based rifle.
"Overwatch" co-game director Aaron Keller told Attack of the Fanboy that they will be adding more characters in the game's roster soon along with new game maps and they might be free to download by gamers. Gamers might see Sombra and Liao as DLC characters for "Overwatch" very soon.
"Overwatch" is currently available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms.
