"America's Got Talent" (AGT) series creator, Simon Cowell has returned on the judge's table, making his debut on the show's Season 11 premiere. Cowell is famous for terrorizing contestants on "American Idol" and "The X Factor." However, it seems fans will see more of his soft side on "AGT."
When asked by NY Times about his perspective in the "AGT" as compared to his previous roles in "American Idol" and "The X Factor," Cowell said, "I was really confident until I sat in the chair and you kind of go, 'Oh God, this is a big show here.' I'm used to being on big shows, but I'm thinking, 'I really hope this is going to work.' And for about 10 seconds, I felt nervous."
The series creator felt at home, especially when an 83-year-old woman in a leotard came on stage, stood on her head, and sang the national anthem. Fans would expect to meet Cowell with his usual bitter criticism towards contestants. However, this time he is softer, complementing participants and genuinely applauding them for their talent.
Cowell shared that as a child, he used to watch such variety shows. As much as he likes being on a music show, it is sometimes tedious when it is only singer after singer. On "AGT," besides the singers, it is literally surprising when a box appears on stage and one does not know its contents or what the act would be.
Cowell must have felt like a child again watching the bizarre yet amazing performances before him. Most likely, the "sweet streak" might win the hearts of the viewers even more.
The reputable talent show judge and creator of "America's Got Talent" will now sit on the judges' table, replacing Howard Stern, who suddenly left "AGT" after Season 4, according to US Magazine. Cowell will now work with Nock Cannon and judges Heidi Klum, Melanie Brown, and Howie Mandel on "America's Got Talent" Season 11. The show airs every Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
