And it is highly likely that the new Thunderbolt Display will see in action immediately after the 2016 WWDC this June. According to 9to5Mac, existing stocks of the display is nearing depletion level that somehow indicates of an approaching refresh, which will include a powerful external graphics card.
The Thunderbolt Display bump will Mac desktops and laptops to handle high-end gaming as suggested by the native support for 5K resolution or the stock resolution of Apple's Retina iMac. Also packed with the upgrade is the accommodation of VR-related functions, which is in line with the tech giant's recent pronouncement of committing to the emerging virtual reality trend.
As the beefed up monitor will readily connect via a USB-C port, the next-generation MacBooks, the MacBook Pro 2016 including, are expected to greatly benefit from the mighty GPU feature upgrades. Essentially, MacBook users will access the same 5K resolution and VR functionalities normally reserved for power Windows PC and Mac desktop users.
