Bethesda Game Studios has now released the updated version of the Fallout 4 Far Harbor DLC for PlayStation 4 users as the original version seemed to have a problem working properly on the console.
There were some performance issues that needed fixing when the Fallout 4 Far Harbor DLC was released. However, there were no problems on the PC and Xbox One versions.
PlayStation 4 users were disappointed as one specific area in the DLC caused their game to run poorly, dropping down to about 20 frames per second. For a console, the frame rate is not really acceptable.
Digital Foundry found that the Fallout 4 Far Harbor DLC for the PlayStation 4 had problems when the player travelled to the foggy part of the map, Polygon has learned. Some have even reported that their PS4 game dropped down to 15 frames per second.
Bethesda is now re-releasing the update for PS4 users instead of having to issue a patch because it would take a longer time. The version for the Xbox One and the PC currently have no problems.
One caveat is that the Fallout 4 Far Harbor DLC PS4 updated version is currently only available for players in North America, Venture Beat reported. Bethesda is still planning to launch the updated version for European Union players soon but there is no definitive date yet.
There are several steps needed for the users who want to update their version in order to get rid of the poor frame rates. It is not as simple as simply rebooting the console though.
First, the PlayStation 4 users should make sure that their Fallout 4 game is closed. They can press the Options button on the controller when the game is highlighted and they can hit "Close application."
After closing the game, they should hit the Options button again to select the "Related Items." This would take then to the Add-Ons menu and finally to the Far Harbor DLC.
Once they are in that particular part of the sub menus, they can download the newest version of the game extension. It should not take long for users with fast Internet connections.
Fallout 4 Far Harbor DLC players on the PlayStation 4 should finally be able to play the game without any hitches. Players outside North America will have to wait for their turn on the updated version.
