Bethesda Game Studios, the developer of "Fallout 4," recently released an updated version of the game Fallout 4's Far Harbor expansion on PlayStation 4.
The details about what was changed weren't revealed but according to Bethesda, the update addresses performance issues. Players of Far Harbor on the open-world adventure’s add-on pack had been reporting issues about the poor frame rate of the game since its debut last week.
Based on a performance analysis by Digital Foundry of Eurogamer, the PS4 version of Far Harbor only runs at merely 20 frames per second and would even dip to as low as 15 fps. This could be because of the fog effect that is used in the Far Harbor region. But the Xbox One version is more acceptable at 20-30 fps, which is apparently smoother than the PS4 version.
Hence, instead of issuing a patch, which would take much longer, Bethesda re-released Far Harbor on PS4. A guide on how to re-download the updated version was provided by Bethesda, according to Polygon.
Before downloading, confirm that Fallout 4 is not running. Then highlight the game on the dashboard of your PS4, press Options and select Close Application to make sure that it is not running when minimized. Choose Related Items which is found under the Fallout 4 icon on the dashboard and then select My Add-Ons.
Next, navigate to the download arrow found next to Far Harbor and select it. You should be seeing a notice that Far Harbor was already Added to Downloads. Then just wait for the downloadable content to finish downloading and installing. After that, you can start Fallout 4.
In the event that this process failed to work, then the entire game should be deleted from the device including its add-on contents. The game should be reinstalled on PS4.
The update version was released in North America and it is not yet available in Europe but according to the developer, it will be available "in the very near future" and it will have "more information" about its release in the area.
Far Harbor is the first big expansion for Fallout 4 and is the third DLC pack to be released for Fallout 4. It is also considered one of the biggest games of the world and is one of the most played games in the $99.6 billion gaming industry, based on the digital-distribution portal of Steam, Venture Beat reported.
