New "Injustice 2" details features three new DC characters added to its roster and armor and gear customization for the sequel.
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios officially announced "Injustice 2" to the DC and video game fans after numerous hints, rumors and leaks about the sequels development. A new trailer has been launched and it features iconic DC superheroes, such as Batman, Superman, The Flash, Aquaman and Supergirl fighting for their lives inside the Pit.
A fight between Superman and The Flash starts off as the Man of Steel overpowers the Scarlet Speedster, but Barry gains the upper hand when he upgraded his suit with a powerful armor. After The Flash dispatched Superman, Batman enters the scene and used a variety of gadgets such as smoke bombs and remote charge, coupled with his martial arts training. Aquaman throws his trident to Batman, and when he is about to kill him, Batman counters with an electric batarang and upgrades his suit with armor. Superman tackles Batman and is about to use his heat vision, but someone blast him with heat vision as Supergirl is introduced. The trailer ends with all five heroes upgraded to their most powerful armors and they begin to clash.
Aside from the official trailer, NetherRealm Studios revealed several new gameplay features as creative director Ed Boon stated that the team is introducing the latest mechanics that will change the way fighting games are played. These includes gamers customizing several armors and gears for their favorite DC characters from appearance to their fighting style and abilities, Polygon reported.
Three new characters are added to "Injustice 2" and these are Supergirl, Gorilla Grodd and the Red Lantern Atrocitus joining other classic DC characters like Batman, Superman, The Flash etc. NetherRealm Studios added that the arenas in "Injustice 2" will have an "evolved" scale and will take place in famous DC locations such as Metropolis, Gotham City and Atlantis.
As for main story itself, "Injustice 2" will continue where the first game left off as Batman and the rest humanity rebuilds the whole world, while stopping Regime supporters from freeing Superman from his Red Sun powered prison. However, they will soon encounter and a new threat that will put the whole planet in danger, VG 24/7 reported.
So far, no additional information has been given as Warner Bros, Interactive and NetherRealm Studios will likely reveal more soon, probably at the Electronic Entertainment Expo on June 14-16.
"Injustice 2" will launch sometime next year as previous reports speculated that it could be on May 2017 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and possibly for the PC platform.
