The latest details for "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 will feature the possible return of Captain Cold and new DC characters joining the show.
It seems that new DC characters are joining Rip Hunter's (Arthur Darvill) team of heroes in the second season of "Legends of Tomorrow" as Vixen and Jay Garrick will be helping the team in facing a new threat in the show.
According to TV Insider, Vixen will be a series regular in "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 joining the likes of Sara Lance/White Canary (Caity Lotz), Mick Rory/Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell), Ray Palmer/The Atom (Brandon Routh) and Prof. Martin Stein and Jax Jackson/Firestorm (Victor Garber and Franz Drameh). However, there is twist in having Vixen in the show as it will not be Mari McCabe (Megalyn Echikunwoke), but a different person before McCabe was able to obtain the animal totem.
The reason for the new Vixen is due to Echikunwoke's busy schedule working on "Damien" and being part of the sorority comedy "Step Sisters". In addition, Echikunwoke will reprise her character in "Vixen" season 2.
Vixen made her live-action debut in an episode of "Arrow" season 4 as he helps Oliver Green/Green Arrow (Oliver Queen) and the Team Arrow in stopping Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) and his organization H.I.V.E. since they are dealing with Darhk's black magic.
Aside from Vixen, "The Flash" TV series cast member John Wesley Shipp teased that Jay Garrick/The Flash will likely appear in "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2, since the plot of the show will involve the Justice Society of America, where Jay is a founding member in the DC comics.
It was in the season 1 finale of "Legends of Tomorrow" that Rip's team was introduced to Rex Tyler/Hourman (Patrick J. Adams) as they warned about going back to the Waverider and meeting their deaths. Shipp stated in an interview that he is excited to see how Jay's role will fit in "Legends of Tomorrow".
Previous reports revealed two character descriptions whic fans speculated to be Nathan Heywood/Citizen Steel and Zinda Blake/Lady Blackhawk, while other characters such as Jonah Hex (Johnathon Schaech), Conner Hawke (Joseph David-Jones) and John Constantine (Matt Ryan) are also being speculated to return to season 2.
In other news, showrunner Greg Berlanti teased that possible return of Leonard Snart/Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) in "Legends of Tomorrow" season 2.
Viewers last saw Captain Cold sacrificing his life to destroy Oculus from the Time Masters and givinv Rip's team time to escape, which left the members devastated and proving that Leonard can be a hero afterall despite being a criminal
Berlanti told Deadline that Miller has signed a contract that allows him to appear in any CW Network TV series such as "The Flash", "Arrow" and possibly in "Legends of Tomorrow". Co-producer Marc Guggenheim teased a possible romance between Leonard Snart and Sara Lance soon as they are "planting" some seeds in future episodes of season 2.
"Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 will return in the fall of 2016.
