Capcom is finally releasing the highly anticipated story mode for their Street Fighter V game after players were shocked to know there were not any story whatsoever when it launched several months ago.
The story mode is coming as the "Cinematic Story Expansion" DLC for Street Fighter V and it will be free for those who have already bought the game. It will give players more content in terms of learning the story of each character and how they fit in in the whole fighting universe.
Most fighting games are better off played with friends and strangers across the globe. Competition can be one factor why the genre exists as each character will have a different skill set as each player will also have their own fighting style in game.
However, the story mode would give players a new perspective for their characters. The incoming story mode for Street Fighter V will be set between Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter III making it a prequel of its predecessor, Kotaku has learned.
All in all a skilled player could probably beat the story mode in less than three hours. The average playthrough could be between three and four hours since the mode would have a total of five chapters.
There is also another bonus for those playing the Street Fighter V Cinematic Story Expansion DLC. All of the DLC characters will be playable inside the story mode which means players can take a look at them and feel how they play even before the official release of each fighter.
Capcom said that the DLC characters in the story mode would essentially be just a "preview." They could still change over the course of the development.
Classic characters have been given nerfs and buffs in the new game. Balrog's crouch jab in Street Fighter V has been made to be slower in order to prevent spamming, VentureBeat reported.
There are also other minor adjustments for the different fighters. Only the skilled players could be able to notice the differences though.
Street Fighter V story mode or the Cinematic Story Expansion is due for the free release later in June. Players will have to download the additional content to update their game.
