Earlier reports have claimed that the console in question would just be an upgraded version of the PS4 and not a whole leap to another next-gen device. This is unlike Microsoft's rumored Xbox Two codenamed Xbox Scorpio which is said to be a whole new step forward for their console generation.

One reason for Sony's confession for the PlayStation 4 NEO is that so people would focus more on their current PlayStation VR and PlayStation 4 games during their presentation at E3 2016, Polygon has learned. It would help ease the hype down for the meantime as people now know it will be coming but it will not be appearing at E3.

Since the new console would be more powerful than its predecessor, it will automatically be better at rendering VR games. However, there are no technical specs and what everyone knows as of now is that the games will look better with no promises of framerate improvements.

In terms of framerate, the Xbox Scorpio could beat Sony's PS4.5 console. One problem is that the Xbox Two is not expected to be rolled out until 2017, ValueWalk reported.

In addition, there has been no confirmation yet from Microsoft. Since Sony already admitted that they are developing their console, it would be kind of a redundant move for the Redmond-based company to do the same with their upcoming console for next year.

There is still the possibility that Microsoft can unveil the Xbox Two or the Xbox Scorpio at E3 2016. What is sure is that the PlayStation 4 NEO does exist and it will come, but people will not be seeing it during Sony's presentation at the large conference.
