Beijing renamed the Tree of Life Tower as Olympic Tower.

China has officially renamed the Tree of Life tower in Beijing's Olympic park--the Olympic Tower.

The International Olympic Committee approved the idea last year. An 18-meter-high statue of the Olympic rings sits on top of the tower, and is visible from miles away.

The Olympic Tower will serve both as a tourist destination and a base for collecting environmental data. It will open to the public at the end of this month.
