"Game of Thrones" Season 6 episode 8 titled "No One" saw the reunion of two of the most loved characters on the show, Jaime Lannister and Brienne of Tarth. The fans of the show have been waiting for their reunion for the two characters became traveling partners in Season 2.
The "Game of Thrones" fans have always loved the relationship between Jaime and Brienne. In the last episode, Jamie crossed path with one of the least expected persons and according to actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, his character is quite conflicted about what really happens.
Coster-Waldau, who plays the role of Jamie, recently spoke with IGN US. The 45-year-old actor explained how either of the two characters on the show did not expect a reunion to happen. According to him, Jaime and Brienne are in love, but they don't just realize it yet.
Talking about the relationship between Jamie and Brienne (Gwendoline Christie), Coster-Waldau explained how the seeds of their romance were sown back during Season 3 of the show. The two characters just hated each other and did not have any respect.
Jamie did not like Brienne for being a woman and a warrior, while Brienne perceived Jamie as a dishonorable man. However, the whole truth about opposite attraction came into play and over a period of time they realized that they have so much in common.
They start to help each other and the weird attraction and fondness between them persists. But they stand stiff without acting on their attraction and avoid talking anything at a personal level, indication that they feel happy to see each other but do not know how to recognize that and lack the emotional self-awareness needed to acknowledge the fact, according to The Telegraph.
Upon being asked about Jaime's reaction to the situation where he and Brienne meet again on the opposite sides of the battlefield, Coster-Waldau confessed that this might actually happen.
"I think it would be very, very difficult for both of them. I mean, you have a feeling it might happen. The last bit of this scene they have is basically her saying exactly that," he said.
Coster-Waldau further revealed where his character might be heading next after completing his mission at the Riverrun. According to the actor, Jamie knows how vulnerable his sister and Tommen are. Therefore, he has to get back and the entire focus of the story is that.
Jamie would understand the sensitivity of the situation and the fact that Cersei is on trial shortly. Even though he will think that she is safe with the Mountain, the deeds of the High Sparrow will give him enough reason not to trust anymore.
